Following the 2010 consultation with Kapiti residents on proposals for a four-lane expressway, the MacKays to Peka Peka Expressway alignment has been confirmed. This means that the southern end proposal, and north of the Waikanae River, the western alignment (Option 1 in the 2010 proposals) are confirmed.
The current design development phase of this project involves public consultation on matters such as mitigation measures (including bunds and wetlands), walking and cycling paths, and the Waikanae Bridge.
