Stations
The Northern Busway stations have been designed to provide a safe, comfortable and attractive environment for passengers to connect to bus services travelling along the busway and travelling across North Shore City. The stations are monitored 24 hours a day by onsite staff as well as with CCTV surveillance through the Busway Operations Centre. The stations are the critical element of the overall busway design that gives the system its functionality, utility and capacity potential.
The Northern Busway has five stations. Four of these stations (Constellation Park and Ride, Sunnynook, Smales Farm and Akoranga) are on the busway. Albany Park and Ride station is further north of Constellation Park and Ride station, where the busway currently ends.
Bus travel between Constellation and Albany is on the motorway with dedicated access ramps for buses to enter and exit the Albany station.
The stations act as both access and transfer points between the busway and the North Shore network, and are the entry and exit points for buses and passengers arriving by foot, bike, car.
Albany Park and Ride station and Constellation Park and Ride station are already up and running and have shown to be a great success since opening in November 2005. The remaining three stations opened in February and are already proving popular with commuters.
