The Northern Busway and five busway stations have been delivered collaboratively by Transit New Zealand and North Shore City Council.

Transit constructed the busway and the new Esmonde Interchange. It is also improving the Onewa Road Interchange. Transit is a government agency and receives its funding through Land Transport New Zealand. The project costs met by Transit were:-

The bus services using the Northern Busway are run by ARTA. The bus operators provide services under contract to ARTA.
